PolymerCAFÉ is a quarterly magazine dedicated to providing news, instruction, information about people and events in the world of polymer clay. Whether you are a hobbyist, student or professional with polymer clay, this magazine is for you and by you. PolymerCAFÉ contains columns that range from beginner's instruction to professional level craft in all genre - jewelry, figures, home decor and others. Article types include how-to, profiles of polymer clay artists, hints and tips, children's, business information and product reviews.
General requirements - PolymerCAFÉ is written and edited to reflect an easy, conversational style. Most articles are written by polymer clay practitioners. All submissions must be about polymer clay or related topics. Submissions must be original and previously unpublished. We will consider new, unpublished writers. Published writers send tear sheets, proposals or finished articles. We are open to queries and we also accept finished articles - if you have never had an article published, before, you may be surprised at how easy it can be. New writers gladly considered, but please - no simultaneous submissions to other publications. Send SASE for return of manuscript and photos.
How-to and instructional articles accepted for all levels from beginner to professional. Use sequential steps and high quality photos for this type of article. Drawings are acceptable where appropriate. Length is determined by subject matter and photos but generally runs 500-2000 words. Please include a resource section with your sources for supplies and special tools, etc. where applicable. Provide company name, website, phone number and address if available.
Profiles and Interviews of well-known or up-and-coming artists, fascinating personalities, etc. Include photos. Length is 1500 to 3000 words.
Essays related to the world of polymer clay - humorous, serious, first person, opinion, new trends and developments. Length is 500 to 1000 words.
The business of polymer clay is covered in articles about jurying, shows, retail, wholesale, internet selling, etc. Length is 500 to 3000 words.
Photos must be high quality color or black and white. Include photographer credits if other than artist.
Preferred file formats and submission - Send digital files from Microsoft Word, QuarkXpress, Pagemaker or Adobe Illustrator. Images should be in high-resolution jpg/jpeg, tif/tiff, or psd (Photoshop) format, at least 300dpi.
Gallery Section for Reader's Works - Let us present photos of your work to the polymer clay community! We love to showcase our readers' talents. Send us photos (see photo info above) and your work may be included in our Gallery Section. If sending photos by regular mail, please include return postage, otherwise items will not be returned.
